HOW much is that dog food in the window?

ABOVE: Maggie's dog food has a Venetian flavor: It's made with fish and rice.
Venetians must love their dogs, because they pay through the nose (or perhaps we should say "the muzzle") to feed them. The Almo Nature Holistic Croquettes in the photo above sell for €17,50 per 2-Kg (4.4-lb) sack, and other brands of high-quality dog food aren't much cheaper.
We buy our dog food at a neighborhood pet shop named Memei, where prices are in line with what we've seen at larger stores. Maggie loves Memei, where she was fitted for her tartan-lined yellow dog rain slicker shortly after arriving in Venice. When we walk past the shop, Maggie often jumps up to look in the display window or sniffs the bottom of the door to enjoy the pleasant aromas from inside:
Only three more weeks to come to Venice. I can't wait and hope to run into Maggie.
