Maggie at Harry's Bar
03/17/2011
We walked past Harry's Bar this afternoon, and Maggie was kind enough to pose in front of the doors that have welcomed Arturo Toscanini, Guglielmo Marconi, Somerset Maugham, Noel Coward, Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, and countless foreign tourists over the decades.
Maggie resisted the urge to go inside, since--like us--she's too thrifty to spend 15 euros for a glass of peach juice and prosecco. Besides, as a red-blooded American carnivore, she'd much rather order a high-priced hamburger at Venice's other tourist mecca, the Hard Rock Café (but only if she can get us to pick up the check).
